Deep in the middle of day 13 of what will forever be known at my house as the great 17 days off of 2010.
The most time I've spent at home without being sick in my adult life. I am still up almost every morning by 6:30a, (a few mornings its 5:00a), I still make oatmeal and still eat it in bed reading the Bible like every other morning of my life. Except then I don't go anywhere. Or if I do go somewhere it is not to work. And then the days usually end with me sitting in bed late at night reading a (another) Mary Kay book ( its official.....I'm obsessed) Mary Kay: You Can Have It All: Lifetime Wisdom from America's Foremost Woman Entrepreneur and having a snack, sometimes cereal, sometimes grits, but more usually, cookies.
Man. The days go fast.
What have I been doing during the great 17 days off of 2010?
I read the paper everyday. I sit and drink coffee out of a real coffee cup (my own real coffee cup). I am making my way through every cooking show on the DVR. I have cleaned the baseboards upstairs, cleaned the upstairs office and re-arranged guest room. I have organized Tupperware cabinet, Windex-ed the french doors, and organized the cleaners under the kitchen sink. I have had long, hot baths nightly and lunch with practically everyone I know. I watch Food Network, old movies and BBC news. I lay in bed and read every book I had started but laid down during the year. I have cooked dinner almost every night, and made dessert. All laundry is done. Bathroom is scrubbed. Wood floors have been waxed. Christmas is (almost) put away.
I also spend a lot of time with someone who is pretty happy I'm home all day.

This sounds lovely! Happy New Year to you! I hope your time at home was restorative and relaxing. Your sweet dog's grin at having his person home made me smile! Cheers, J
