Packing and Praying

Lord:

remind me as I'm making my grocery list and thinking, worrying  (googling) something to make

help me remember why I'm cooking for someone else's house

show me this is more than just another something else I've added to my list of things to do

when I'm standing in line at the grocery store

or looking for the ice chest in the garage

and especially when I'm cleaning up the kitchen after making two meatloaves

this particular package is going to a 'BMX"  preacher's house

he broke his foot and may need surgery

she is pregnant and confined to bed with a medical condition that is expected to be fatal to the unborn child and possibly to her

he said Sunday morning how he never realized what a hot meal was such a blessing

he said its unbelievable to him how much comfort he has knowing that while he is on the road for work his wife is at home eating a hot meal that someone from the church prepared for her

and how he sometimes gets home at 9:00p

and how he sits down by himself

and has some of that hot meal that someone dropped off

Lord, remind me about this household

remind me when making a grocery list

remind me when standing in line at Walmart

remind me in my messy kitchen

remind me to pray over the food I'm cooking

remind me this is important

This week someone else's house received:
Meatloaf (no special recipe, just the regular kind)
Mash potatoes (just potatoes boiled, mashed with milk, butter, salt and pepper)
Steamed broccoli (just broccoli steamed)
half of a butter cake (the half I didn't eat)
paper plates, plastic utensils and napkins

By this shall all men know that you are My disciples, if you love one another if you keep on showing love among yourselves. (John 13:35 amplified)

may you also be blessed beyond measure for your caring, for your concern, for your dicipleship.

What you wrote is truly beautiful, not only in style and wording, but more importantly in the love and faith you share. Thanks for blessing my day with your words.

What a lovely post. I think I'll print it out and add it to my hospitality folder where I make notes of what I've fed people, to remind me what the priorities are.
