I fell off the wagon... then got run over

I have not been participating in living well recently, because ... well... I have not been living well recently.

I have not even been making any real attempt to live well and I don't even have excuses and I cant even pinpoint what my problem is exactly... its just a vague, cant put my finger on it, general, failure.

I heard on the radio that when a baseball player is in a slump and nothing is working well for them and they are just not doing a good job, the solution is to go back to the basics, to re-learn and concentrate on the basics of the game.

This sounds like a man thing. I have never heard of this. I asked my husband about this and he seemed to be familiar with the concept, so I guess its a real tatic. If it works for major athletics, maybe it will work for me? I am going back to the basics. In a nut shell, its just common sense, the basics of the weight watcher's plan, among other things, drink 8 glasses of water each day and at least 5 fruits and veggies each day.

I have trouble with the veggies and fruit and have been averaging 2.

Don't judge.

Its a lot harder than it sounds. Seriously, how many fruits and veggies do you eat every day? It takes a conscious effort... and it is so easy to have some crackers or pretzels, popcorn, chips, chocolate... anything but that apple.

I have also started walking one mile a day, instead of trying to cheat by getting exercise unpacking boxes and cleaning the house, I am making an effort to actually exercise.

This week, I am not going to weigh in at my weight watcher's meeting. I am just not up to hearing the sad news. I will instead just listen, pay attention to the leader and the topic and hear what the others are doing.

Then I will go back to the basics and report in next week.

Who else is choosing to live well? Look here:

I can't tell you how many times I have had to get back to basics myself. You are living wisely. It will pay off in big dividends in the long run. Good job!!

I hope it make you feel better knowing I have a hard time eating my share of fruit and veggies everyday! If you don't want them, why force yourself? (at least that's what I tell myself :)

I know how you're feeling this week but you've got the right attitude and the right plan to go back to what you know works for you. You're doing great!

Such a sad title! LOL. The great part is that we can always get back on the wagon, again and again!

I know of very few people for whom it isn't a struggle to get in all the recommended servings of fruits and veggies each day. I certainly have issues with that as well. It's a never-ending battle.

I too, have been getting back to basics, but I've totally ditched weight loss as a goal. I want health and regular activity to become my lifestyle rather. I've completely shifted my focus and stayed away from the scale. I'm tired of the abuse it heaps on my head each time. I'm feeling better and though I haven't noticed a change in the way my clothing fits yet, a long slow changing process will be much more likely to be permanent, so I'm okay with that.

Keep up with the basics. YOU CAN DO THIS!!

Oh, me too! I didn't post last week or this for Live Well... I am eating junk, not exercising, not drinking enough water, nor having enough f&v (some days, none). I think I'll follow your lead and worry about the basics... Thanks! :)

You will get back on track...

And WW works...I lost 60 pounds almost two years ago on it. Keep up the good work!

You're on the right track. I weighed at home this morning, then took my car in for service intending to go and weigh at WW. Well when I got out of the service place it was 2:00 and the center was closed so I guess I won't weigh. I may still get by there before the end of the month.
I don't get my 4 every day. I try to eat apples, oarnges and bananas for snacks. I had a huge salad for dinner. Probably 4 servings of veggies. I had some cranberry juice and apple on my oatmeal so I guess I did all right today.

Progress is what I see. I understand completely about the fruits and veggies! I so struggle there too. Just keep moving forward-you can do it! With Christ all things are possible.
Much love,

Oh yes I fall off the wagon quite a lot, but you're doing it right. Just get back on that wagon and and a conscience effort again. You'll get back to it! :)

Thanks for visiting my blog even though I'm kind of late making my way over here. :)

okay, i skimmed the comments, so i think this may be new, but try V8.

breakfast is hard for me--i SO want the sugary easy stuff, but when i have my little (8 oz. i think) spicy V8, i do LOTS better. i usually have it and a cheese stick and that hold me over 'til the kids are fed and i can make something a bit more substantive.

i did south beach some time back, but i'm too lazy to do all the cooking, but the basics i am trying to get to are to avoid all the processed sugar stuff, and the water of course.

blessings!
