BBQ Meatballs

2 pounds Ground Beef (I use gr. chuck)
a little garlic powder
salt n pepper
3 slices bread (crusts removed), wet under running water, then squeeze out excess water

Work all ingredients together by hand, making sure the wet bread is evenly distributed and mashed well into the ground beef. Roll into balls, place in baking tray. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-30 minutes (depending on size of meatballs). Makes about 40 small meatballs. Adjust recipe accordingly for amount required.

SAUCE
1 lg. bottle Ketchup (I use Heinz)
1 cup brown sugar
minced onion to personal taste
a sprinkle of ground clove to taste

Combine all in a sauce pan. Simmer over med heat till just ready to boil, stirring frequently.

Put cooked, drained meatballs into crockpot, cover with the ketchup sauce. Fold sauce gently thru meatballs to coat. Cook for 4 hours on low heat (or 2 hours on high heat).

I serve these two different ways.

For a meal, I make the meatballs a lil larger, serve on hoagie rolls, sprinkled with grated mozzarella cheese. Add salad and fruit, and you have a great meal for a busy day.

For an appetizer, I make smaller meatballs, serve them in a chafing bowl with frilly cocktail toothpicks. I usually set a lettuce lined bowl of mozzarella cubes near the chafing dish to complement the meatballs.

Hope this helps ya out. ENJOY!!
