How I stretch a dollar at my house

I am the first to admit..... I am not much of a saver.... I am much more of a shopper.... and I am not really good at stretching a dollar... I am far more inclined to just spend that dollar fast.

But I want to do better....So I will be picking up tips from others here

I am proud of my small progress...

1. I use coupons, rebates, sales and some generic brands (One Frugal Lady helps me with coupons)

2. I use leftovers to make a new meal ... like baked chicken one night and chicken pot pie the next

3. I freeze left overs for later, which saves a lot of time cooking weekday dinner too

4. I bring my lunch to work at least 3 times a week

5. I bring my coffee from home, too and almost never stop at Starbucks

6. I buy almost all my books used from Amazon

Its just little steps in the saving direction.

Thanks for mentioning me! I love that you are trying to be frugal! Just remember that a treat every once and a while is nice, as I love Starbucks as well... lol.

This is good stuff! I really need to do what you do with the chicken, save left overs and put it in another meal the next night. I think my downfall would be coffee. I do make my own at home, but in my dreams I'm off to a coffee shop everyday...

You're doing great! I just keep trying to cut back a little here and there. Every little bit does make a difference.

These are things that we do, too. I also try to buy my kids boots and snowpants at goodwill stores, cause around here, they only get worn about 5 times a year! Our leftovers get taken for lunch the next day by hubs.

Thanks for the tips. I am going to try to carry my lunch all next week. I will check out one frugal lady. I am trying to clip coupons... but can't seem to get them organized. Yuck. this can be a chore.
Have a great weekend!
