my Friday Glimpse of Home is a glimpse of my new kitchen island. I had such plans for the new island shelves. For some time now, I've been collecting glass canisters from yard sales with a dream of arranging them, full of flour, sugar, rice and so on, and then putting them all in one place, in a organized little line. Then putting the cookbooks in one place.
Clearly, this place will only be for the cookbooks. The canisters have to go elsewhere..... and this isn't even all the cookbooks! I gave up on the canister dream. I've started looking around for a spot for more new shelves.
Speaking of the island.... this is what the counter top currently looks like after one coat of stain.
Its laying in the driveway waiting for another coat. We have big plans on introducing the counter top to the island this weekend.
This is my Friday Glimpse of Home.

You have a lot of cookbooks! I only own 5, haha :)
I have one drawer full of cookbooks, but I find that I only use 3 or so with any regularity. Maybe you need to purge a few cookbooks to fit your canisters? Or not. :)
The countertop looks really good! Who knew that concrete was a countertop option!
The counter top looks good. Can't wait to see it all put together. I hope the canister project works out, that is a good idea.
nice island ! - It's exciting to share in your anticipation of completed projects and seeing them come to pass. By the way - what do you do with ALL those cookbooks! - - You should autograph some - 'for the future' ! I'm still amazed about the squirrel & bird feeder!
Hi! This is my first time to your blog! It is nice to be with you at Emily's photo linky today.
Your island shelves are a great place to add some personal touches to your kitchen.
I bet you'll love tinkering with them over the seasons or showing your collections like you stated.
Have a great weekend!
I don't cook enough to have that many cookbooks. Good for you! I can't wait to see the finished island. THanks for visiting.
Hi Bobbie! Thank you for visiting my Glimpse of Home (blue bowl). I like your island very much (and the kitchen flooring too). I will check back to see the island countertop installed.
The canister dream sounds lovely, but it must be wonderful to have such a nice spot for all of your cookbooks!
Fun to visit your blog!
