Ladies Spring Fellowship 2010

Welcome to the Ladies Tea...13th Annual (or was it 14th??) Ladies Spring Fellowship at church this past weekend.

This year's theme is "going green, reduce, reuse and recycle" Lets tour....

This energetic woman took two tables. One dedicated to honoring her family of veterans.

And the other one more of a , "look what you can do with trash" theme. The candle lanterns were made out of old tuna fish cans and scrap paper. The centerpiece is sitting in an old ice cream bucket. Awful clever.

This was the kids table. The centerpiece was branches taken off a limb that fell in the hostess' drive way that morning. All the froggies were from Goodwill, yard sales or the thrift store. The hostesses were shirts that said "God Recycles"

Not only was the kitchen busy making the most delicious food you will ever put in your mouth.... (which I was too busy putting in my mouth to get any pictures of) they also took time to decorate a small table near the kitchen for them to sneak out, sit and grab a bite.

This is Country Rose china pattern. I almost chose this pattern for my china. So I clearly have a little place in my heart for it. I get to lovingly linger at this table a little longer than I should each year at this event ... I'm sure the hostess of this table has no idea I love her china... she just thinks I am a stalker.

The center piece is a trash can.

This centerpiece was "built" using all trash- "found" items and recycled material.

The carpet on the inside is a small piece of the carpet in the church sanctuary that was recently replaced. Same for the tiles. Makes me wish I would have thought of rescuing the church trash.

This centerpiece figurines is made out of discarded pecan shells. The pecans are shelled, the shells are trashed. then someone rescues them, grinds to a powder and then forms into these people....

Look! Lime wedges on the glasses! "going green"

The centerpiece was a gift that this hostess had been given 20 years ago. Can you see the fruit displayed below the centerpiece? Each table has a small gift for each person at their table. This gift was the reusable tote bags for groceries.

This table was going green, recycling and reusing with flowers and plants from the yard.

Same things at this table.... plants from the yard used.

This is the table that is by far the most decorated each year.

I was there late Friday night as she was carrying her centerpiece in to a chorus of "oohhhhhh" and "aaahhhh".
The china was her grandmothers.

The gift for each lady at the table was a bag to keep your plastic bags stored in

Just one more glimpse before we move on. . . .

Ducks and Spring daisies....

This was my favorite table. The table theme was recycled newspaper. This hostess is only 14 years old. I've had the pleasure of watching Emily grow up.

This year I had the pleasure of seeing her host her first table by herself. I was also fortunate enough to sit next to her table so I could offer help if needed, help pouring hot tea, help bringing hot soup from the kitchen, help cleaning up..... she had it down. Didn't need me.

Whats black and white and read all over? Her newspaper theme..... Get it? Still cracks me up!

This is my table. I decided at the last minute I did not like my centerpiece, but... it was too late.... When it was my turn to introduce myself and my table theme I was fast on my feet.
I tied it into a gardening theme, a recycled theme since these flowers will be going into my garden after this lunch, and my gift was gardening gloves so all my guests would be able to get into the dirt and go green them self.

Next year's theme.

Any ideas for me? Seriously? Past, present and future? What is my centerpiece?

all the tables look so good. I'll throw you some ideas about past, present, and future -- if I can come up with some...
