Fresh Fig Cookies

Pre-heat oven to 350.

Cream 1 cup sugar with 1/2 cup shortening (next time I am going to try half brown sugar and half white sugar)

Add one egg

Mix 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspooon slt, 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves (next time I am going to use 1/4 teaspoon cloves), and add to butter/sugar.

Add one cup shopped figs (I would add an additional 1/2 cup) and 1/2 cup chopped walnuts.

Bake for 15 minutes.

Oh my goodness, those sound delicious! We had a fig tree in our backyard when I was growing up. The taste always brings back memories. :)
