I mean 25. Day Number 25.
The good news is the end is in sight and it looks like our saving goals will be accomplished. The bad news is its not nearly as much fun in the end as it is in the beginning.
Spent 181/200 grocery budget, 66/75 lunch budget. For the last six days of the month, I have enough left for fruit, milk, cereal, bread, laundry detergent and a couple of trips to Subway. We will end the month with zero left in our spending budget.
Despite teasing from friends who can not comprehend why we would choose to so severely limit our self, we haven't felt any real deprivation. Pantry is not empty. Freezer is not empty. But interesting combinations are being made. I'm also using up all random gift cards found in my wallet each with a little odd amount left on them has been helpful for my emotional sanity.
This weeks cooking included: Jambalaya (again), Roast, BBQ Chicken, Po-Boys, creamy grape dessert (which I highly recommend), french toast, all manner of ham and cheese sandwich and a very big chicken and dressing dinner at the in-laws with a lot of leftovers coming back home with us.
I'm nervous that its too early to proclaim this month a success. I could easily lose my mind and go to every yard sale I've avoided and then hit the summer sales at the Mall. Not to mention the luxury of going to the grocery store and just throwing things in the buggy. I've had my eye on the latest Blue Bell ice cream flavor......

Your grocery budget is really low. How did you do it? Any tricks you can share??? :)!
Bobbie, wow - - what an accomplishment! You have done so very well on this goal - but I"m certain you are glad to see the end of the month upon us ;) You've even given me a little motivation.
Wow - -Amazing - - isn't it exciting to see your goal in sight. (I'm certain you'll be glad when July 31 arrives ;).
Bobbie - you've been a motivator to me and others! Now, with the motivation, let's see how well I do.
