I need your advice.......

One of my biggest problems is trying to find a daily quiet time- and make it daily- not two or three times a week.

Currently, I get up about 5:30-ish each morning. My plan is to make breakfast and crawl back into bed to eat breakfast, drink coffee and have a daily quiet time of praying, reading the bible, and reading a devotional book or magazine for about 30 minutes. However, this does not always work out as I plan it....

Sometimes, I over sleep and the quiet time is cut to 5 minutes.

Sometimes I get busy cleaning the kitchen, or sweeping, or organizing the Tupperware, or doing any number of other things that need to be done in the house and then my quiet time disappears.

Sometimes, I cant tear myself away from the morning news or the computer, and my quiet time greatly suffers.

Sometimes, I just lay in bed, looking out the window and ignore my bible.

Sometimes, I have to go to work early... you get the picture.

I just cant seem to get a consistent quiet time.

How do you do it?

Really, how do you do it?

Thanks for visiting my blog :)

I get up quite early too, usually around 5:30 or 6. I find that I have to get straight into praying and reading the Bible in order to get it in. If I stop to make breakfast or coffee then I run out of time. I never know when the kids are going to wake up or some other distraction is going to come.

I still don't get it in every day, but I've been a lot more consisten since doing it this way.

Ditto to Michele. I go straight to my recliner where my Bible sits - no breakfast or checking email or giving kids breakfast until I'm done. I do, of course, grab a cup of coffee (but I try to get it ready and set the timer the night before, so I don't need to make it, just pour it).

I also don't get it every single day. If I get 5 out of 7 I count it as success.

Thanks for stopping by! I have difficulty finding a set quiet time, but seem to have the best luck in the mornings before the day gets away from me.
Have a great day!

I think it will work better if you wake up a little late (later than 5:30am)and don't go back to bed. Going back to bed will hinder you from prayer because you would probably go back to sleep or slumber... get off the bed, do whatever you need to do, and find a peaceful place, such as your garden, for prayer.

Hugs

My quiet time for me is praying on my way to work, or should I say just talking to the Lord as if he were sitting next to me on the passenger seat. Then I listen to soft worship and just listen to him speak to my heart. I get to work 15 minutes early, enough to read a scripture or devotion. This works well for me each day. Blessings Lorie

Hi Bobbie, Thanks for visiting my blog. For me, I have to go to bed early (9:00-ish). I have been following what Laine does. If you google Laine's Letters you can read her story. I don't always follow this plan, but for the most part it works for me. I get up around 4:00 and have quiet time, because there is no other time available to me. I will read your other posts and come back for more visits. Kathi
