I vote round b/c I think it will fit better in your dining room. It's good to have 8 chairs, but maybe only put 4-6 around the table and have the other 2-4 throughout your house. Then the table won't look too crowded; except for those times that it actually IS crowded. :)
WOW - Beautiful sets ! But since you asked :> I'd go with the OVAL shape - it'll still make your living room appear large. Go with 8 chairs - if not you;ll regret it later. I'm looking forward to seeing your 'new living room' - no matter which set you choose !
