Easter Details

NaBloPoMo April 2013I'm signed up with Blogher's monthly writing challange here (There is still time- go sign up!) I will be writing once a day for the entire month of April. The theme of the month is "fresh".

What is fresher than Easter? The Resurrection of Jesus Christ and a reminder of the resurrection power inside of Christians! Here are my Easter details.

My long Easter weekend was a little longer than normal, since I worked at home on Thursday. I ran errands Thursday evening, which includes finding a new "I'm so busy" to-do list.  It makes writing out a daily list just a little more fun.

Friday, I woke up with a bad headache and spent most of the day resting with Tylenol Extra Strength and a flat of strawberries the husband brought home from the Farmer's Market. He power washed the house, porch and driveway all day while I slowly got a little more office work done at home and a little work around the house. I cooked lunch (chicken quesadilla) and dinner (club sandwich) and prepared for Easter dinner on Saturday at my sister in law's house. She always has a house full  with us and her in laws as well. I brought broccoli salad and a corn black bean dip and a triple chocolate cake. I got it all arranged and started what I could. I also got Easter gifts arranged and bagged up for my Sunday School class.

Saturday was a busy day. I had a three hour round trip to bring a friend to the Port of New Orleans (the world's busiest port) for her vacation, a seven day Norwegian cruise.  Only to get back home, get myself and the food ready and take another three hour round trip drive to my sister in law's house. Needless to say, I didn't want to do much but sit on the sunny back porch with my great nephew and soak up all the compliments that I always get on my cooking from my sister in law and her in laws. I'm pretty well known with my in laws (and the in laws of my in laws) for my good dishes. My sister in law gets me a little present for every single occasion. This present was a necklace from Charming Charlies. I got her (and my mother in law) a small rose bush each.

Sunday started at 5:45a with the Easter Sunrise Service that my husband likes to attend each year. This year, it was smaller than usual and had a different guest preacher, who we both really liked. It was the most energetic preaching I'd ever heard at that time of morning! Because I teach Sunday School, that meant I also went to the regular service at church. Had a few new girls in Sunday School. After church, for the first time ever, we had "Easter dinner" alone, and really enjoyed it.  We went to our favorite date night place, Monjunis', usually not open on Sunday, and we had to get reservations (we got the second to last table!)!  The trying different dishes continues with me getting the spaghetti and meatballs (delicious!) and the husband getting the eggplant and shrimp pasta. Easter afternoon and evening was a major rain event and a major napping event in my house. When is the last time I took a four hour nap? It was pretty glorious, especially since I got up and ate more cake. Rounded out the night with the real reason for the long weekend, watching "The Bible" on the history channel and reading a physician's explanation of Crucifixion and bringing the neighbors some cake.

It was a wonderful and restful four day weekend. Of course, I could take another day at home (or three!) to get some things accomplished, but isn't that always the case? It is for me, at least.

Sounds like a perfect Easter Weekend (minus the headache part!). Church, family, friends and good food sounds just as the holiday should. Thanks for the kind visit! Made me smile. (I took off today as I did so much running around this weekend also, I needed a day to sit quietly and be home a bit!
