blueberry-banana-date breakfast smoothie

Everyone has their own breakfast smoothie recipe and this is the one I seem to like best.

A few ice cubes
big handful of frozen blueberries (I buy fresh when on sale and freeze them myself)
banana
splash of high protein milk
2 dried dates
3 or 4 heaping tablespoons of plain greek yogurt
Big squeeze of honey


























I use about 3/4 of this for breakfast then save the rest for a snack later in the day (usually at night).

I would have never thought to put dried dates in a smoothie until it was recommended by a friend. They are unbelievably sweet, which is great since I'm suppose to be avoiding all simple sugars (which is, of course, sugar, ice cream, candy, chocolate, cake, donuts, and the hardest for me, cookies)
